Stoke Lane B V Fry Club Juniors

Sunday 9th  October 2005 at Stoke Lane Playing Fields

1st Match

Fry Club started well with a plenty of work down the wings and good passing across the width of the pitch. Crosses going in from the right were not made the most of as Fry’s continued to press. A shot from Perry May was blocked by the hand of a Stoke Lane player giving the visitors a penalty that was coolly netted by Ben Clapp. Stoke Lane came back at Frys in numbers only to be met by some confident defending from Charlie Goodwin and Joel Rowbottom. 0-1

Once again Frys started the 2nd half showing no mercy to Stoke Lane with the home side having very little possession. A quickly taken corner by Jack Dancey was curled in low giving the Stoke lane keeper little chance of getting down to make a save,0-2. Stoke Lane replied with a pass from midfield giving Alex Bloomer a shot at goal that Fry keeper Jovi Belcher was unable to stop, 1-2. Fry club went on to dominate the game but were unable to add to their score with several shots being stopped by the woodwork.

2nd Match

All the action was in the Stoke Lane half at the start of the game with Kyle Morris missing an easy chance after a neat pass from Nathan Munford. Kyle immediately put his miss right winning the ball with a strong tackle and shooting from close range to make it 0-1. Frys forced the home side straight onto the back foot when Ben Harper netted with a superb volley 2 yards out from a Kyle Morris cross to make it 0-2. Frys continued to pepper the Stoke Lane goal with Nathan Munford and Ben Harper both hitting the woodwork. 0-2

Fry club wasted no time adding another goal. Straight from the whistle a neat pass from Daniel Kendall opened up the field for newcomer Mitchell Thornton to slot the ball home with his left foot,0-3. Stoke Lane rallied and put Fry club defence on the back foot but didn’t have enough firepower to trouble the Fry club keeper. A defence splitting pass from Mitchell Thornton gave Kyle Morris a clear run at the Stoke Lane goal only to be tackled by a defender with the ball ending up in the back of the net for an own goal.
